3 Tricolor Indian Food Recipes To Celebrate Independence Day

We celebrate many festivals and special days throughout the year, but, 15th August has a special significance.

 

 

This Independence Day, cook up some yummy tricolor inspiration at home! Healthy, not oily and your little ones will love it.

So, here are three tricolor, easy-to-make breakfast or snack recipes that you should try making at home.

 

1. Tricolor Dhokla

Ingredients:

1. 2 Cups of Slurrp Farm Spinach Dosa Mix

2. 2 Cups of Slurrp Farm Beetroot Dosa Mix

3. 2 Tsp cooking oil

For seasoning:

1. One tsp mustard seeds

2. One tsp sesame seeds

3. 8 -10 Curry leaves

4. 3 – 4 Green chilies (Not recommended for kids)

5. One tsp oil

For Garnishing:

1. 4 Tsp grated coconut

2. Freshly chopped coriander leaves

How to make: 

1. Pour 2 cups of Slurrp Farm Spinach Dosa Mix in a bowl and add 1 Cup of curd to it. Stir well. Now add 1 Cup of water to it to get the desired consistency. Keep aside for 5 minutes

2. Pour 2 cups of Slurrp Farm Beetroot Dosa Mix in a bowl and add 1 Cup of curd to it. Stir well. Now add 1 Cup of water to it to get the desired consistency. Keep aside for 5 minutes

3. Keep water to boil in a big vessel

4. Take some oil-greased flat steel plate and transfer the Spinach Dosa mix to the greased plate. Steam it over the vessel of water for 7 minutes

5. Now, pour the Beetroot Dosa Mix over the green batter and steam for another 7 minutes. Remove the dhokla from the stove and let it cool

6. Cut the dhokla into desired shape and plate

7. Heat oil in a small saucepan and add mustard seeds, sesame seeds, green chilies and coriander leaves in it. Sauté for 30 seconds and pour the seasoning over the dhokla

8. The dhokla is ready to be served. Garnish it with grated coconut & chopped coriander to have that tricolor touch to it 

2. Tricolor Idli 

Ingredients:

1. One pack of Slurrp Farm Beetroot Dosa Mix

2. One pack of Slurrp Farm Spinach Dosa Mix

3. ½ Cup curd

4. ½ Cup water

How to make:

1. Pour 1 measure of the Slurrp Farm Beetroot Dosa Mix into a mixing bowl and add ½ measure of plain yogurt in it. Mix well

2. Add ½ measure of water to the mixture and stir well to get a consistent batter. Adjust the consistency according to your preference

3. Repeat the process with the Slurrp Farm Spinach Dosa mix as well. Let the batter  stand for 5 minutes

4. Now, heat the water of your idli steamer until it boils

5. Pour the idli batter of both mixes- beetroot and spinach, into the mini-idli trays. Place the idli trays inside the steamer and steam for 15 minutes

6. The healthy, yummy spinach and beetroot idlis are ready to be served with white coconut chutney to make the perfect tricolor Independence Day special palette

 

3. Tricolor Cheesecake

Ingredients:

1. 1 ½ Pack of Slurrp Farm Banana & Oats cookies

2. 150g Whipped cream

3. 150g  Mascarpone cream

4. 4 Egg yolk

5. 125g Sugar

6. 50g pistachio paste

7. 10g gelatine

8. 50ml Orange juice

9. 2 Orange zest

10. One pod – vanilla

11. 20g Melted unsalted butter

12. 30ml Coldwater 

How to make:

1. Take gelatine and bloom it in cold water

2. Over a double boiler, cook egg yolks & sugar until it turns pale yellow in color. Now, mix both the creams together

3. In a bowl, mix cookie crumbs and butter together until the desired consistency is achieved

4. Shift the cookie crumb mixture to a wide base circular pan and refrigerate it

5. Divide your cheesecake mixture into three equal parts. Add the pistachio paste to one-part, vanilla pod to another and orange juice and zest to the third one.

6. Pour the pistachio-flavored mixture first to the pan and refrigerate for 10-15 minutes. Then add the vanilla-flavored mixture and store in the fridge and finally the orange mixture

7. The delicious tricolor cheesecake is ready to be served, cut it into the desired shapes to serve!
